Great jazz in Paris last night from the Drew Davies Swing Band at Caveau de la Huchette, a wonderful melange of swing, blues, bebop, big band standards and other great songs like the one that goes "Is you is or is you ain't my baby," which my mother used to sing to me.
The group's lead singer also a gifted sax player. Amazing moves on the small dance floor by young and old, some of whom must be professionally trained dancers. I think there are dance lessons before the first set.
Unfortunately, about halfway through the evening, I misstepped and sprained my ankle slightly. No swing dance or alcohol involved! Damn stone stairs! I can still walk fine and there isn't much swelling, just a little bruising. I'm good at falling.
Caught the last metro home, then gave my cousin in Arizona a computer tutorial over Skype at 2 am.
Woke up for the second or third time at noon to a call from Patricia Laplante-Collins, who organizes soirees for American expats. She's invited me to present an exposé of my photography on Sunday at her apartment. Very scary, but I said yes. I should stay off the ankle today, so this is a perfect opportunity to put together a slide show.
